COMMISSION AT THE
ASCENSION
(6) They therefore, when they were come together,
asked him, saying, Lord, dost thou at this time
restore the kingdom to Israel? (7) And he said unto
them, It is not for you to know times or seasons,
which the Father hath set within His own
authority. (8) But ye shall receive power, when the
Holy Spirit is come upon you: and ye shall be my
witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea and
Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
(9) And when he had said these things, as they were
looking, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out
of their sight. (10) And while they were looking
stedfastly into heaven as he went, behold two men
stood by them in white apparel; (11) who also said, Ye
men of Galilee, why stand ye looking into heaven? this
Jesus, who was received up from you into heaven
shall so come in like manner as ye beheld him
going into heaven. Acts 1:6-11 ASV
And in vain they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men. Mark 7:7 EMTV
WHERE CAN WE FIND OUT ALL ABOUT JESUS?
You search the Scriptures, for you think in them you have everlasting life.
And they are the ones witnessing concerning Me. John 5:39 LITV. Luke 24:44
JESUS SENT THE
TORAH OUT OF ZION
(1) But in the latter days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of Jehovah's
house shall be established on the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted
above the hills; and peoples shall flow unto it. (2) And many nations shall go
and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of Jehovah, and to the
house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk
in his paths. For out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of Jehovah
from Jerusalem; Micah 4:1-2 ASV
There is an important aspect of the grand commission of the Apostles that is
perhaps overlooked or unknown to modern evangelists of all
denominations. The understanding of the philosophy of the commission of
the Apostles will guide many who can hear the voice of Jesus in the ever-
changing faces of the Christian denominations. What is the philosophy of
the grand commission?
The philosophy is not new because it is the core Judaism as entrusted to
Moses and the Prophets who were sent to enforce Moses whenever the
chosen people turned their back to God to go astray. Whenever they went
astray, the Prophets came out with warnings of the impending imposition of
the curses spoken of in the Torah if the chosen people fail to keep its
commandments. It is to understand that the Torah is immutable no matter
where we may find ourselves. The immutability of the Torah is the
underpinning philosophy I have hinted to.
Wherever on the globe the Bible is studied, the philosophy remains that
nothing can be appended to or removed from the the Old Testament
(Moses or Torah and the other books), unless it is something that had been
fulfilled by Jesus (Matthew 5:17-18).
In the past, today, and tomorrow, no one has the authority to change or to
add anything in the Torah (Law, Old Testament), whether it was Moses, the
Priests, the Kings. We read that the aliens or the pagan citizens who
converted to Judaism were to obey the whole Torah just as the Israelites.
(13) every native doth thus with these, at bringing near a fire-offering of sweet
fragrance to Jehovah; (14) and when a sojourner sojourneth with you, or whoso
is in your midst to your generations, and he hath made a fire-offering of sweet
fragrance to Jehovah, as ye do so he doth. (15) `One statute is for you of the
congregation and for the sojourner who is sojourning, a statute age-during to
your generations: as ye are so is the sojourner before Jehovah; (16) one law and
one ordinance is to you and to the sojourner who is sojourning with you.' Num-
bers 15:13-16 YLT
Since the Torah or the Old Testament is eternal, as decreed by Jesus in
Matthew 5:17-18, no group of believers from the past, today, and tomorrow,
may discard any unfulfilled commandment of the Torah (the Law), under
any misguided pretense that such and such commandment of the Torah
was for the Israelites or the Jews. That immutability and universality of the
Law (the Torah) is reiterated by the declarations of Jesus that we read in
Isaiah 56:1-8 and Matthew 5:15-17.
THE GREAT COMMISSION
“ (18) And Jesus came to them and
spake unto them, saying, All authority
hath been given unto me in heaven and
on earth. (19) Go ye therefore, and
make disciples of all the nations, bap-
tizing them into the name of the Father
and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit:
(20) teaching them to observe all
things whatsoever I commanded you:
and lo, I am with you always, even unto
the end of the world. Matthew 28:18-20
